Optimising indoor air quality is more than a breath of fresh air

In the UK we spend more than 90% of our time indoors so it’s vital that our buildings provide a healthy internal environment for us to live and work in to ensure optimum comfort, wellbeing, productivity and positivity.

Increasingly stringent regulations demand that our buildings are energy efficient in order to reduce our environmental impact, however, more airtight buildings can trap in stale air and pollutants and restrict the flow of incoming fresh air if the right heating, cooling and ventilation systems are not specified.

The associated effects of this can have a significant impact on our mental and physical health. According to Public Health England, poor air quality causes around 36,000 deaths a year in this country, contributing to respiratory illnesses, heart disease, depression and dementia, whilst also affecting concentration and morale.

Daikin works closely with buyers, specifiers, contractors and facilities managers to provide a range of cost-effective climate management solutions that deliver a healthy and comfortable internal environment for residential, commercial and industrial spaces.

From removing excess water vapour in the air to extracting airborne pollutants such as pollen, mould, dust and viruses, and filtrating harmful Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) from carpets and cleaning materials, all Daikin products and systems have been designed to improve indoor air quality and help maintain a comfortable temperature and humidity level.

As a bonus, Daikin systems can also contribute towards a building achieving BREEAM and LEED certification, so installing an effective ventilation solution is essentially healthier for the environment, your business and your building’s occupants.

For over 90 years, Daikin has been providing innovative, premium quality indoor climate management solutions to meet ever-changing climate and customer requirements. For more information or to download the ‘Delivering Good Indoor Air Quality’ whitepaper, visit: www.daikin.co.uk/indoorairquality
