North East Data Centre Hub expands

Following a highly successful launch event in February, the North East Data Centre Hub has announced its second industry gathering, taking place on 23 April 2026 in Newcastle. This not-for-profit initiative, founded by a consortium of regional organisations, continues to bring together professionals from across the data centre ecosystem. The upcoming event features guest speaker Jimmy Mack, Director of Development at QTS Data Centers.

The inaugural event attracted more than 100 attendees from across the data centre supply chain, highlighting strong demand for a dedicated regional forum focused on engineering, construction and digital infrastructure. The level of engagement demonstrated both the scale of opportunity in the North East and the appetite for greater collaboration across the sector.

Building on this momentum, the second event will be at Revolución de Cuba in Newcastle, with more space to accommodate growing interest. The Hub is a platform for networking, knowledge sharing, and discussion, with events planned about every two months across key locations in the region.

The North East Data Centre Hub was established by founding partners RED Engineering Design, Cleveland Cable Company, CMP Products, Durata, Daikin Applied (UK) Ltd and RWO Associates Ltd. The initiative focuses on strengthening the regional supply chain and supporting data centre projects nationally and internationally.

A key highlight of the April event will be a guest presentation from Jimmy Mack, UK Director of Development at QTS Data Centers, one of the world’s leading data centre operators. His insights will offer a valuable perspective on the evolving demands of digital infrastructure developments and the role regional supply chains play.

As demand for data centre capacity continues to accelerate, driven by artificial intelligence, cloud computing and digital transformation, the need for collaboration across the supply chain has become increasingly important. The North East is well positioned to support this growth, with strong engineering expertise, infrastructure capability and access to energy resources.

A spokesperson on behalf of the North East Data Centre Hub said: “The response to our launch event showed just how much appetite there is for a dedicated data centre forum in the North East. Bringing together over 100 professionals from across the sector was a clear indication of the region’s strength and potential.

We’re delighted to welcome Jimmy Mack from QTS Data Centers as a guest speaker for our second event. His insight will add an important global perspective to the conversation, helping to connect regional capability with the wider data centre market.

This event is about continuing to build momentum, creating opportunities for collaboration, knowledge sharing and long-term growth across the North East.”

The April event will combine informal networking with industry insight, offering attendees the opportunity to connect with peers while gaining a broader understanding of market trends and project requirements. Future events will include guest speakers, technical sessions, and discussions aligned with sector priorities.
