Nidec Global Appliance (GA), a Platform within Nidec Appliance, Commercial and Industrial Motors (ACIM), has appointed Alberto Casnati as its new president, succeeding Guilherme Almeida, who has been transitioned to CEO of Nidec’s AMEC (Automotive Motors & Electronic Controls) business unit.
This change marks a strategic step for GA's continued growth. Casnati, who previously was the vice president of the Home Appliances secor and the chief strategy officer at ACIM, brings 27 years of extensive experience in the compressor and motor industries, coupled with a strong background in sales and marketing across diverse global regions. Before joining Nidec in 2022, he held executive roles at leading companies both internationally and in China, further demonstrating his expertise and influence in the field. Now, under his leadership, GA will encompass three Business Segments: Home Appliances and Commercial Appliances, with Embraco, Nidec, and FIR product brands; as well as HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), with U.S. MOTORS® and Rescue product brands.
Reflecting on his vision for the future, Casnati said: “Nidec Global Appliance will continue to strengthen its portfolio by delivering high-quality, energy-efficient solutions to meet the evolving needs of our global customers. There will always be challenges, but we have iconic brands like Embraco, FIR, and U.S. MOTORS, global presence, and above all, exceptional people. Thanks to it, I’m confident that we will continue to strategically position GA in the sense of leading the markets we play”.
Guilherme Almeida, a Brazilian executive who started his career in 2006 as an intern at Embraco (acquired by Nidec in 2019), transitions from his leadership role at Nidec Global Appliance to CEO of AMEC. During his time as GA President, Guilherme actively contributed to revenue growth, Embraco’s repositioning from a compressors brand to a complete solutions provider, reorganisation of the company’s global footprint, and portfolio expansion to include electronics. 'For the last two years, I have had the honor of leading the company to which I’ve dedicated the last 18 years of my professional life. Looking ahead, I am confident in this leadership change by knowing Alberto’s skills, and commitment to ensure continued growth of the business,' he said.
These organisational changes are aligned to the creation of a division under the Nidec Corporation called Nidec Appliance and Automotive Division (AAD). It brings together the ACIM (Appliance, Commercial and Industrial Motors) and AMEC (Automotive Motors & Electronic Controls) business units and will count on Valter Taranzano as its CEO & President. Also aligned to the just-mentioned movement, Katia Drusian has been appointed as CEO of the ACIM business unit, which includes Nidec Global Appliance (GA) and Commercial & Industrial Platforms.
