GERMANY: Police in Hamburg have found CFC-containing refrigerators being offered for sale as containing the legal refrigerant R600a.

A raid on a premises in Hamburg's docks found 43 CFC-containing fridges. On some fridges the metal plate of the compressor had been removed and replaced with an R600a sticker.

A 45-year-old Afghan man is said to be helping police with their enquiries.

At the end of last year, ACR News reported on a growing number of cases in Germany and the Netherlands where attempts had been made to disguise waste CFC-containing fridges by using counterfeit R600a stickers.
