Mobile block ice for agricultural communities

GHANA: Australian business man Mr. James Appiah has signed a contract with KTI for the supply of a mobile block ice plant for the Kingdom Ice Center in Accra, Ghana.
Mobile block ice for agricultural communities
Accra was originally built around a port where fishery and urban agriculture are the predominant economic activities, providing fresh food commodities to the regional centre, such as vegetables, poultry and the products of deep sea fishing.

Mr Appiah intends to provide effective refrigeration to the fishing and farming communities for the conservation of these products while they go through the distribution process.

'This investment is my first contribution to the economic development of my native country,' Mr. Appiah said: 'We are certainly looking at opening more ice centres throughout West Africa in the coming years with help of KTI. They provide an advanced engineering and a refrigeration technology we can rely on.'

The ten ton Block Ice Plant (BIP) will be up and running in Accra in January 2014. It will feature a refrigeration plant with titanium heat exchanger and R404A refrigerant as well as a refrigerated ice store.
