Mixed prospects

THE refrigeration equipment industry is split over business prospects for this year. Plimsoll Publishing's survey of the top 475 companies in the UK found that while 43% were approaching 2005 with some caution, 25% were upbeat.
According to David Pattison, senior analyst at Plimsoll Publishing, 52% of this year's companies suffered a fall in profit since last year's study. 'This,' he says 'supports the fact that margins are coming under increasing competitive pressure.' Market growth this year is forecasted to be 2%, down from 3% last year.
