Mitsubishi to supply all-new Ecodans

MITSUBISHI Electric UK is to replace all Ecodan heat pumps affected by its recently announced product recall with new models.
The original intention was to replace affected models with refurbished units backed by a three-year guarantee but Mitsubishi Electric has now told ACR News that production has been increased sufficiently to enable all sales orders for the entire product range to be fulfiled from the beginning of September.
'Whilst we understand the problems a recall causes to both our customers and individual households we are pleased that our factories have been able to increase production to cover all affected units in just a few short weeks,' said John Kellett, general manager of the Domestic Heating Systems department.
The recall of 6,000 Ecodan heat pumps was announced after a W85 model installed in a house in Chard, Somerset, reportedly 'exploded'. No-one was hurt but the unit suffered extensive damage. A burst weld on a receiver was blamed.
