STUART Millar, representing the UK refrigeration and air conditioning industry, scooped a bronze medal at the WorldSkills tournament in London this weekend.
An apprentice with Irish company A & N Shilliday & Co Ltd, Stuart was part of Team UK who competed against 1,000 competitors from 52 countries/regions, watched by over 200,000 visitors over the four day event.
Stuart's achievement helped Team UK's achieve a total of five gold, two silver and six bronze medals - the highest ever achieved by the UK.
'It is an amazing feeling to be crowned amongst the best in the world,' said Stuart Millar. 'Standing on the podium receiving my medal in front of a packed venue at The 02 Arena is an experience I will never forget.'
Thanking family, friends and his training manager, he added 'Just as importantly, I hope my success will inspire others to think about their career options and that I've managed to show everyone that there are options for them. I'd definitely say that a career in refrigeration and air conditioning is very rewarding'
The refrigeration and air conditioning gold medal went to Brazil with Australia taking silver. Bronze medals were also won by competitors from Japan, Korea, Netherlands, Taiwan and Korea.
