"Massive opportunity" for hydrocarbons

BOC has reported increasing demand for hydrocarbon refrigerants in a number of markets both at home and abroad.
Mike Dennis, business director for special products, told a press conference at the company's Guildford headquarters that there was more scope to grow in the HC market than almost any other refrigerant sector.

'Asia is growing particularly fast following the decision of many large manufacturers in Japan, Korea and China to switch to HCs,' he said. 'Worldwide there is scope to build on the solid base already established in domestic refrigeration to increase sales in static and portable air conditioning, commercial refrigeration and a number of other fields. We see this as a massive opportunity.'

Mr Dennis was commenting on the recent acquisition by BOC of the CARE range of HC refrigerants from Calor.
