March brings birth of Daikin and Gree's China-based firms

JAPANESE air conditioning manufacturer Daikin is pushing ahead with its joint venture with Chinese manufacturer Gree to establish two new companies in China by mid-March.
As reported in ACR News in May 2008, Daikin entered into a joint venture agreement with Gree for the production of inverter air conditioners, printed circuit boards and production moulds. The firms will also jointly develop a low cost inverter air conditioner to promote more widespread use of this energy-saving technology.

The new companies will be based in Zhuhai in the Guangdong Province. Zhuhai Gree Daikin Device Co is expected to produce low cost compressors and PCBs as a benefit of standardization and joint production.

The second company, Zhuhai Gree Daikin Precision Mold Co, will merge Daikin's mould technology and quality management systems with Gree's manufacturing know-how to produce moulds on a short lead-time.
