M&S cuts fridge emissions by 18% in 3 years

MARKS & Spencer reports that it has made a 18% reduction in refrigeration emissions when compared to 2006/07.
Since the launch of its environmental programme Plan A three years ago, M&S says it has achieved 62 of its original 100 commitments and its measures include reducing emissions from refrigeration systems.

The supermarket giant also reports that more than £50 million of profit generated from this year from Plan A activities has been invested back in the business.

Sir Stuart Rose, chairman of Marks & Spencer, said: 'We're now pushing ahead with our new, bigger and bolder version of Plan A with 80 new commitments and the ultimate goal to become the world's most sustainable retailer by 2015.'
