At Chillventa this week Vulkan Lokring is presenting its tube connection technology for the installation and repair of plug-in refrigerators.

The Lokring tube connection is a totally clean, permanent and purely mechanical connection with a permanent hermetic seal for all refrigeration technology requirements.

The solder-free tube connection is based on an axial sliding technology: The two ends of the tubes that are to be connected are brought together in a connection joint and from there two rings are pushed axially onto the joint using a hand assembly tool. Due to the conical inner contour of the rings, the joint is reduced to such an extent that both the tube and the joint create a metallic-hermetic connection through surface pressing. However, there is no measurable drop in pressure or reduction in volume flows in the tube system.

To date more than 1.5 billion Lokrings have been successfully used in the industrial volume production of cooling and freezing units. The tube connection can be used either when replacing a compressor or a drier or when leaky refrigerant lines or charging tubes have to be repaired.

Lokring’s approach removes the need for soldering, cutting repair time and costs. Thanks to the clean, fast and simple connection a unit can be repaired on site in an average time of just 20 minutes. Lightweight and easy to use, the hand-held installation tool ensures optimal handling. In addition, the possibility of leakage is significantly reduced compared to soldering.

The Lokring tube connection connects a wide variety of materials including aluminium and copper. The tube connection can also be used for all types of refrigeration and air-conditioning plants such as split, multi-split and VRV systems. In addition, it meets all of the requirements of EU standard (EN 378-2), TÜV.
