Anthony Curry joins as Lochinvar’s new northern heat pump specialist with John Court appointed to the same role in the south.
Curry brings a wealth of experience to this new role having joined the industry over 20 years ago. He has spent most of that time helping clients reduce their carbon footprint and most recently worked exclusively with mechanical consultants on low carbon specifications.
Court has spent the last ten years as a mechanical building services engineer supporting architects, consultants and contractors designing renewable systems.
“John and Anthony’s expertise in designing renewable system solutions will be invaluable as we continue to expand and enhance our heat pump services and products,” said Lochinvar’s renewables manager James Cooper.
“We are in the midst of an exciting development period as we expand our range of trusted and reliable sustainable solutions, so the addition of these two highly experienced industry professionals is a vital step.”
The UK heat pump sector hit a milestone of 250,000 certified installations last month and saw a 45% increase in growth between January and July compared with the same period last year, according to the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS). This puts 2024 on track to be a record-breaking year for heat pump usage across the country, and closer to the industry’s ultimate aim of installing 600,000 electric heat pumps annually by 2028, it added.
While these figures primarily reflect growth in the residential and small commercial sectors, Lochinvar is also seeing surging demand for higher capacity, integrated solutions across commercial and industrial markets.
The two new additions to the company’s team will work closely with Lochinvar’s area sales managers to ensure heat pump specifications meet client needs They will also continue to expand the company’s industry connections and build relationships with contractors and clients who require specialist technical assistance with their low carbon projects.
Both praised their new employer for its recent track record in developing new heat pump solutions for almost every building type, including the Amicus Altus range of high temperature air-to-water heat pumps capable of producing hot water up to 70degC while still achieving high energy efficiencies and reduced environmental impact.
The Amicus Altus is available in three possible configurations: Two-pipe heating only, two-pipe heating or cooling, and four-pipe simultaneous cooling with heating and heat recovery, making it a highly versatile solution for many commercial projects.
They also identified increasing demand for heat pumps using low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants such as propane (R290) as the phase down of HFC gases gathers pace, so they welcomed the opportunity to work with Lochinvar’s Altus R290 options.
“These are exciting times for the company and the whole commercial/industrial heat pump market,” said Cooper. “We have lots to aim for and with Anthony and John on board we have the additional technical expertise and experience we need to provide even deeper support to our customers.”
