UK: Supermarket group Lidl is to install new refrigeration cabinets in each of its 600 UK stores as part of a £66m investment in expanding its fresh meat and poultry offering.
The rollout of this project, which Lidl anticipates to be completed by early 2014, will see the fresh meat and poultry sales floor area increase by 50% on its current space. This latest expansion is designed to respond to increasing customer demand for fresh meat and poultry after Lidl saw sales of the fresh listed range increase by 30% from 2012 to 2013. The supermarket will also be trialling four fresh fish lines in selected UK stores.
