ANNE King, membership and marketing director of the Building Services Research & Information Association, has been awarded an MBE in the New Year's Honours list.
King's award for services to industry is recognition of her 30 years in construction.
King started as a market researcher looking at market intelligence analysis for air conditioning, thirty years ago. She has been involved in best practice, encouraging companies to consider this, be more innovative and improve their business through collaborating with other firms.
Speaking on the train on her way to another meeting, King said: 'I'm obviously flattered, proud and delighted. Although its the individual who gets the award, its important to thank the teams I've worked with. I'm glad to say I've received the honour while I'm still involved in the sector.
'I've seen more new technologies in the last 10 years than in the last 20. One of the biggest changes that makes it fun to be in this sector is the carbon agenda. This industry can do so much to save the planet'.
