Mechanical and electrical services specialist J S Wright has boosted its design and build expertise with the appointment of a new senior mechanical design estimator.    

Darren Gibbard will support the award-winning company’s estimating department in costing the mechanical element of tender bids and negotiating successful tenders through to hand-over to delivery teams.

Based at J S Wright’s head office in Birmingham, but also serving its Bristol and London offices, he will work across the company’s specialist hotel, residential, social housing, student accommodation, leisure and commercial sectors.

With more than 30 years’ experience in the building services industry, Mr Gibbard was previously a senior mechanical estimator for another Midlands-based contractor.

His project credits include the £20 million Category A and Category B fit-outs of 2 Arena Central, a 14-storey development in Birmingham that is set to become the new UK headquarters of HSBC bank.

Mr Gibbard, who lives in Aldridge, started his career as an indentured engineering apprentice before graduating in 1992 with an honours degree in Building Services Engineering from Newcastle-upon-Tyne Polytechnic, now Northumbria University.
