J & E Hall apprentice wins two awards

J & E Hall apprentice Brady Samways has received a double win on his way to becoming a fully-qualified refrigeration engineer.

J & E Hall apprentice, Brady Samways.

Mr Samways won the National Refrigeration Apprentice of the Year award at the Grimsby Institute of Further and Higher Education. The award follows his achievement of being named J & E Hall Apprentice of the Year.

He said: “I am very happy to win the national award. After winning the J & E Hall award during my first year of the apprenticeship, this tops it off nicely. Everything is going pretty well.”

Over the course of the academic year, Mr Samways attends the Grimsby Institute for a period of nine weeks, split into three-week blocks. He is in the second of three years at the Institute, where he tackles a variety of subjects, including health and safety, electrical studies, science, environmental studies, refrigeration principles and the F-Gas Regulations. “We do a bit of everything, which I really enjoy,” he added.

Mr Samways was nominated for the award, which recognises the effort and determination displayed throughout his learning, by his internal verifier, Jason Clark. He received the J & E Hall Apprentice of the Year Award for outstanding performance, service and dedication to the Applied Refrigeration and Service Apprentice Programme.

J & E Hall operations manager, Philip, Wright said: “As apprentice mentor, I can say he is the model apprentice. Even more encouragingly, his work shows ongoing potential as he is always ready to learn from the staff around him. He will have a great future at J & E Hall.”

Mr Samways will spend the final year of his four-year apprenticeship working on the job and putting into practice what he has learned within the J & E Hall business. He is currently based with J & E Hall in Bishop's Waltham, Southampton.
