UK: The Institute of Refrigeration is looking for volunteers to join its executive council, the board of trustees who govern the charity.
With a number of vacancies available, the Institute is looking for members with the passion, enthusiasm and ideas to make a real contribution to the air conditioning and refrigeration industry. You need to be a Member, Associate or Fellow of the IoR but you don't need to be currently involved in committees or activities.
This is an ideal opportunity for individuals to become involved in the running of one of the longest established refrigeration Institute's in the world. The demands on a council member's time is not too onerous, they just need to be able to attend a minimum of three half day meetings a year in London or Birmingham.
'Sitting on the executive council of the Institute of Refrigeration will provide the individual with a greater understanding of how our institute operates; the activities of its involvement and benefits these deliver to both the industry and individual members,' commented Paul Arrowsmith, council member since 2010 and member of the technical committee. 'Furthermore it will also provide the individual opportunity to influence some of the diverse activities of the Institute and the contribution it makes to the industry in which they work. We all as members of the Institute benefit from these activities and the dissemination of information from the Institute and by standing for election to council enables you to give something back,' he added.
Graeme Maidment, the Institute's president-elect and a council member since 2010 said 'Please consider getting involved - it is a great opportunity to have a say and to contribute to the future our industry.'
Steve Gill who sits on the membership committee and has served terms on council in the past added 'If a role on Council does not appeal to you but you would like to get more involved, why not still contact IoR secretary Miriam Rodway to discuss some of the many other ways in which you can help.'
