Integral UK’s Refrigeration Division, based in Leicester, has been working with Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People in nearby Loughborough, as part of the company’s ongoing effort to support local and national charities.
It became involved with Rainbows Hospice following an enquiry relating to the supply of a new and improved cold room for its kitchen.
As the only hospice for children and young people in the East Midlands, Rainbows is a place where life-limited children and their families can find care and support. The hospice currently cares for more than 300 patients across the region with a wide range of support requirements.
The existing equipment in the hospice kitchen was unreliable and not fit for purpose. A new, larger cold room was needed to enable the hospice to offer a greater variety of foods and stock an improved range of produce to accommodate the increase in demand.
In early April this year Integral approved the works to remove the existing cold room and supply and install the new larger cold store as a charitable donation. A team headed up by project manager Nick Gulliver commenced work in their own time over the bank holiday weekend and a number of suppliers and contractors were also engaged.
None of the work would have been possible without the support of the entire team who worked on the project, as well as the support of Integral’s supply chain which all donated a number of key fixtures required to complete the works including: Dean & Wood, HSS Hire, ACM, Gibson Refrigeration, CEW Electrical Wholesalers, TVR Electrical Services and Northants Engineering Solutions.
Kate Golding, head of giving at Rainbows said: “All of the team really have gone above and beyond anything that we could have dreamed of. The new fridge is amazing and will make such a difference to us.”
