CANADA: A Quebec-based company and its president have been fined $37,200 for illegally importing R22 into Canada.
Velocity Inc of Valleyfield, Quebec, was fined $30,000 and its president Stéphane Poirier $7,200 after pleading guilty to illegally importing 600 cylinders of R22, contrary to Canada's Ozone-Depleting Substances Regulations, 1998.

The illegal shipment of R22 was discovered in February 2011 when Environment Canada enforcement officers inspected a cargo of cylinders from China.
