Igloo, the refrigerated courier expert, has opened a new depot in Leicestershire in response to growing customer demand.

Igloo, the refrigerated courier expert, has opened a new depot in Leicestershire in response to growing customer demand.

Located at Lime Kilns Business Park in Hinckley, the new depot is part of a major investment by Igloo in its nationwide distribution and customer service. It will allow the firm to reduce its carbon footprint by being closer to points of delivery across its national distribution network.

The company has also recruited additional depot staff from the local area and is hoping to employ more in the near future.

In addition, it has invested in new vehicles, increasing the Igloo fleet by twenty per cent to support the continued growth of the business. The new fleet offers increased loading capacity and greater versatility including better temperature control, with three different temperature regimes in separate compartments.

Operations director Leigh Ogley said: “Hinckley has exceptional transport connections and local infrastructure and its central position increases our capacity to move products around the Igloo depot network. We can now provide even quicker lead and response times ensuring that urgent deliveries get through to clients in the Midlands and North in ice cold condition.”
