Hunt for source of LD outbreak

THE hunt is on in south London for the source of an outbreak of legionnaires' disease which has struck down 12 people since the middle of July.
The source of the outbreak has so far eluded Health Protection Agency (HPA) workers who are known to have been searching Wandsworth, Bromley and Bexley. Five new cases of the disease have been reported in the last week, including an eighth at Lewisham Hospital. A further two patients are still receiving treatment at a hospital, in Sidcup. The first patient, a 46-year-old man was admitted to Lewisham Hospital on July 18 and is still in intensive care.
