Horse meat scandal impacts on frozen food sales

UK: THE horse meat scandal appears to have had an impact on sales of frozen burgers and ready meals, according to latest figures from market analysts Kantar Worldpanel.
Sales in the first five weeks of the horsemeat scandal, which broke on January 16, show a 43% drop in frozen burger sales and a 13% fall in frozen ready meals.

Despite this, the frozen food sector remains robust with Iceland recording a 10.1% growth.
