Griffiths awarded heatpump MCS

A KETTERING-based air-conditioning firm has gained accreditation for its work installing heat pump technology into energy-efficient buildings.
Griffiths Air-Conditioning and Electrical Contractors is only the fourth business in the UK to gain Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) accreditation to install both air source and ground source heatpumps.

There are 14 BRE assessors evaluating products and installers nationwide for suitability to receive the government's MCS accreditation.

BERR's grant scheme, the Low Carbon Buildings Programme, and other grants will be available to customers who use products and installers certified under MCS.

Griffiths is one of 47 firms which have received MCS accreditation since the certification schemes for installers and for products were both launched in May 2007.

Partner Ian Griffiths said 'We are very proud and pleased to have achieved this accreditation which has involved a lot of hard work over the past year. The high cost of fuel and the move towards renewable energy is encouraging more people to consider using heat pumps in their homes or commercial buildings'.
