GRAHAM Garner, a former md of such well-known refrigeration names as Westward, Radfords and Carrier, is to retire after 39 years in the industry.
After time with George Fischer, Graham Garner moved into refrigeration in 1972 as a sales engineer with T H Wathes. He joined Westward Refrigeration in 1978, and as md led a management buy-out of the company in 1987. He subsequently grew the company from £1m turnover to £13m before selling to Wagon in 1992. In the enlarged group, he was appointed md of Radford Retail Systems, growing the company and taking it to £48m turnover. Radford later became part of Linde AG.
In 2000, he became md of Carrier Refrigeration UK, leaving in 2003 to work in a freelance capacity, and sat on two company boards in non-executive roles.
