GRAEME Maidment has today (Friday, March 30) been voted in as president elect of the Institute of Refrigeration.
In the first open election of its kind mounted by the Institute, Graeme beat off challenges from Steve Gill and John Bowater, polling 52% of the vote. Steve Gill received 32% and John Bowater 16% in the results confirmed by the IOR auditor Myrus Smith and Associates.
Graeme Maidment will be joining the IOR council as president-elect on April 20.
A statement by the Institute said: 'On behalf of all of the members we would like to thank and congratulate all three candidates Graeme, Steve and John for their generosity in offering their time and expertise in serving the Institute. Although there can be only one president-elect this time, we will be sure to capture the enthusiasm of the other candidates and encourage them to continue their increasing involvement in the Institute committees and activities.'
Andy Pearson's term as president runs until April 2013 and the president elect's role will be to deputise for him over the next 12 months if required.
