GEA buys Norwich freezer firm Eurotek

REFRIGERATION giant GEA has bought Eurotek Engineering, the food freezing firm headquartered in Norwich.
The purchase of Eurotek was made to strengthen GEA's refrigeration division and freezing business in Europe.

In 2007, Eurotek generated sales of EUR 8 million with a workforce of 21 employees. The firm is focused on design, engineering, installation and after sales service for industrial freezers. Eurotek's products are used across the food industry and it has established a reputation in Europe and also serves markets in the middle east and asia.

A spokesman for GEA said: 'The acquisition of Eurotek substantiates GEA’s strategy to acquire companies which complement GEA’s technological or geographical product offering. In particular, cooling and freezing technology for the food industry are key growth areas within GEA Refrigeration'.

Fareham's International Cooling Group (ICG), which includes Searle, Dawmec and Raffel was acquired by GEA in September 2008 and is now part of GEA's refrigeration division.

The companies of GEA Refrigeration design, engineer, install and maintain innovative refrigeration components and systems. GEA Refrigeration employs 3,800 people. Consolidated sales for the GEA Group amounted to EUR 5.2 billion in 2007.
