G&L Beijer set to buy Carrier's Thai wholesale operation

SWEDISH wholesaler G & L Beijer, the parent company of leading UK wholesaler Dean & Wood, has signed an agreement for the acquisition of Carrier's refrigeration wholesale operation in Thailand.
The business reports sales of around £12m and has 50 employees. It is currently jointly owned by Carrier and B Grimm Ltd - whose owner Harald Link is a G & L Beijer board member.
The acquisition will be made through the formation of a jointly-owned company, Beijer B Grimm (Thailand) Ltd. Beijer's holding represents 49% of the shares and more than 50% of the votes. The remaining portion will be owned by B Grimm Ltd.
The Thai operation is seen as a platform for further expansion in SE Asia and follows Beijer's acquisition two years ago of Carrier's refrigeration wholesale distribution operations in Europe and South Africa.
