Fridge pupils keep World Skills hopes alive

THREE refrigeration students are keeping cool about dreams of SkillFridge and WorldSkills success.
Student 22-year-old Richard May has been selected to represent Britain in the World Skills Competition, after he reach the SkillFridge 2008 finals.

If the City of Bath College student continues his winning streak, he could make it through to the World Skills finals, hosted in Calgary, Canada in September 2009.

Richard comes from a long line of cooling relatives. His grandfather, father and brother all worked as refrigeration engineers.

Richard May is in the third year of his studies and is employed by JCW Air Conditioning.

His fellow college students Simon Dawes, 23, and Steve Morley, 47, are also aiming high and will compete in the finals of SkillFridge 2009 this July.

Both are studying small commercial refrigeration and air conditioning at NVQ Level 2. Steve Morley came second in the SkillFridge semi-finals and Simon Dawes scored top marks in the semi-finals for his practical work.
