Fridge future in young skilled hands

THE reputation of the UK refrigeration industry should be in good hands when the WorldSkills competition comes to London next year.
Fridge future in young skilled hands
After a special three-day selection event at HRP's well-appointed training centre in Slough apprentices Stuart Miller and Brian Craig - both from Lisburn College, Ireland - reached the benchmark score required for them to compete for a coveted place in the UK team for the WorldSkills finals in October 2011 at ExCel.

Over a total of 19 hours at the HRP-hosted event earlier this month, the two lads were judged on their abilities across a range of skills including brazing, pipework fabrication, equipment installation, fault finding, repair and commissioning.

Stuart Miller of Shilladay Refrigeration and Brian Craig of United Dairy Farmers now go forward to the next stage of training which will prepare them both for the UK Team selection in June.

Whoever is selected for the finals will find themselves up against refrigeration competitors from 26 other countries in an event which showcases around 40 skills.
