EHS International in buyer talks

A BUYER is sought for the Manchester-based air conditioning firm, EHS (International).
Eighteen of the 30 staff employed at EHS's Trafford Park warehouse have been made redundant after the firm was put into administration.

Joint administrator Matt Dunham from accountancy firm Grant Thornton said: 'We are in talks with a number of parties about buying the business. Once a company goes into administration I would hope to sell the business fairly quickly- within 4-6 weeks. After this period, the situation becomes untenable'.

He added: 'Suppliers, customers and staff want certainty. We would hope to get as much money for the business as possible and retain as many staff as we can.'

The firm, which designs and supplies cooling equipment, imports equipment mainly from China and was founded in 1987.

EHS was formed to supply the HVAC trade primarily in the UK. In 1997 it acquired Aquamajor and supplied non-installed air conditioners, dehumidifiers and other air treatment products worldwide.

EHS products are sold under the ‘Prem-I-Air’ and ‘Prem-I-Air Elite’ ranges. Most of its products are manufactured in the Far East. EHS was a former distributor of Samsung, Panasonic and Ariagel air conditioning equipment. High Street names, as well as specialists in the equipment hire, electrical wholesale, air conditioning and web-based firms sell part or all of the portfolio.
