ECEX moves to new premises

ECEX, the metal fabrication specialist and supplier of air intake screens, has moved to new premises in Newbury to improve the flexibility of its manufacturing operation.

The move will allow the company to better service customers across a range of sectors, including construction, M&E and facilities management.

Now based in a two-storey, 9,000sq ft building, comprising offices and a workshop, ECEX can manufacture in-house to provide a faster, more responsive turnaround.

In addition, the move has enabled the firm to tighten up planning and organisation and take on work on a larger scale. Managing Director, John Grenville said: 'While still servicing our smaller clients, we are also starting to get construction-sized steelwork throughout the building, especially in the data centre sector. This is not necessarily just steelwork for buildings, but also for plant support and plant decks.'

To support the move ECEX is investing in new plant and equipment, including lifting gear, and building a mezzanine floor to provide additional storage facilities for stock components.

John added: 'We hold stock including steel and guardrail components so that we can fulfil orders quickly. This has smoothed the production operation, boosted our versatility in terms of meeting customer deadline expectations and it also makes us far more agile.'

The company has recruited three new welder-fabricators and a sales person to help grow its manufacturing capability still further.

The new address is: Unit H, Venture House, Bone Lane, Newbury, Berkshire RG14 5SH.
