ebm-papst - EC Seminar Success

Energy saving fan specialists ebm-papst held their first EC technology seminar on 3rd December at their new Client Centre in Chelmsford and have hailed it an outstanding success.

The event was attended by representatives from a variety of sectors including facilities management, local government, equipment manufacturers and London Underground. Based around a one hour presentation approved by the Construction CPD Certification Service, Technical Director Geoff Lockwood gave an overview of relevant environmental legislation and how EC fans are already exceeding the efficiency targets proposed for the future. As Chairman of the Fan Manufacturers Association Geoff has represented the UK fan industry in Brussels and at other lobbying forums and gave an interesting insight into the way European and UK legislation is formulated.

A second, more technically biased presentation on the advantages of EC technology showed how important it is to compare whole system efficiency rather than just individual components when looking for energy saving. A series of case studies also revealed how the versatility of EC fans regarding speed control and mode of operation can save even more energy than is apparent from just improved motor efficiency.

ebm-papst will be running a series of seminars in 2010 and have appointed Helen McHugh as Head of Sustainable Technology to promote the energy saving potential of EC fans to a wider audience. 'It's clear that the building designers, specifiers and end users are not aware of how much carbon reduction can be gained through the use of EC technology and correct system design. Judging by the reaction of yesterday's audience, I think our message is going to be well received.'

Anyone interested in attending an event at ebm-papst or who would be interested in a lunch-hour CPD briefing at their offices should contact Helen McHugh or Robert Harness on 01245 468555 or send an email to events@uk.ebmpapst.com to request further information.
