More than 40 delegates from local employers and suppliers recently attended a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning event at Eastleigh College to learn more about the latest regulation updates, emerging technologies within the industry and apprenticeships.

The event, which was held at the College’s main campus, brought together employers from across the region, as well as representatives from the Membership Committee of the Institute of Refrigeration and the vice chairman of the Hampshire Refrigeration Society, John Hobley.

As well as a presentation from parts manufacturer Reflok Europe and refrigerant supplier A-Gas, guests were also given the opportunity to tour Eastleigh College’s fully equipped Refrigeration and Air Conditioning workshop facilities.

John Hobley said: “Today’s event has been excellent. The Reflok products in particular have generated a lot of interest; it’s great to get manufacturers engaged with end users.”

After attending the event Gary King, mechanical supervisor at Barden FM said: “Today’s event has been very interesting, there were a lot of good knowledgeable guys up there; it’s definitely something to take back to work. I originally came to the College about 10 years ago and now I’ve got two of my apprentices here; the College have always been very helpful.”

Alison Leaverland, head of division for technology at Eastleigh College said: “As a College we are driven to ensuring that we are always up-to-date with our industries and can share that knowledge with the employers that we work with. Events like this allow employers to hear the updates straight from the professionals who are changing the industry for the better. Today has been an excellent example of that and we look forward to hosting more events like this in the future.”
