E Poppleton and Son names new MD

Tim Hopkinson has left Hargreaves to take over as managing director of the ductwork manufacturer and installation contractor E Poppleton and Son Ltd.

Tim Hopkinson has left Hargreaves to take over as managing director of the ductwork manufacturer and installation contractor E Poppleton and Son Ltd.

Mr Hopkinson, who will become president of the Building Engineering Services Association (BESA) later this year, has more than 35 years of experience in manufacturing and contracting and was managing director at Hargreaves for six years.

He said he was delighted to be joining the 93-year-old family owned business because of its strong reputation for quality and project delivery. He added that his close friendship with Gareth Vaughan, the previous managing director of Poppleton, who passed away suddenly last year, had also played a major part in his decision.

Mr Hopkinson will become the third association president from the company, following in Gareth’s footsteps. Gareth was president of the then HVCA in 2008/9, as was the founder’s grandson Edgar Poppleton, who served in 1988/89. Based in Colwyn Bay, the company has been a member of the association for almost 60 years.

Mr Hopkinson will work alongside Sue Vaughan, who has been managing the business since December 2015.
