DuPont refrigerants approved by Bitzer

DuPont Chemicals & Fluoroproducts (DC&F) has announced the inclusion of Opteon XP40 (R-449A) and Opteon XP10 (R-513A) in updated compressor selection software from Bitzer Kühlmaschinenbau, for its range of semi-hermetic piston and screw compressors, which can be accessed at https://www.bitzer.de/websoftware/

Opteon XP40 is a new optimised low GWP, non-flammable replacement for R-404A and R-507. XP40 has more than 60% lower GWP and up to 10% improved energy efficiency compared to R-404A. Opteon XP10 is an optimised new low GWP, azeotropic, non-flammable replacement for R-134a, with over 55% lower GWP with comparable properties and performance.

Global business director at DuPont Fluorochemicals, Kathryn K. McCord, said: “We at DuPont are extremely pleased that Bitzer has included Opteon XP40 and XP10 in its updated compressor selection software program. This inclusion marks the final step in Bitzer’s approval of XP40 and XP10 for its compressors and sets the stage for these new low GWP refrigerants to become the products of choice in refrigeration and other applications.”

DuPont has invested hundreds of millions of dollars to bring to market the most sustainable refrigerants with no ozone depletion potential and low global warming potential. The company and its suppliers have plans to invest hundreds of millions more in the next five years to bring online additional capacity of these more sustainable, high-performance products that serve a wide range of applications.
