DuPont develops low GWP blend for commercial refrigeration

A NEW low GWP refrigerant blend for commercial refrigeration systems, based on HFO1234yf, is to be featured by DuPont at the forthcoming Chillventa exhibition in Germany.
Details are sparse at present but DuPont says this new solution offers a 50% reduction in total greenhouse emissions when compared to a standard R404A system. This is said to have been confirmed by the initial field trials conducted by DuPont in co-operation with component manufacturers, consultants and retail chains.

In its pure state, HFO1234yf is classed as mildly flammable but has a GWP of just 4. It is being promoted as a replacement for R134a in car air conditioning sytems. DuPont have, as yet, not revealed the other refrigerants in this new blend.
