Danfoss to close Italian thermostat plant

From October 1, Danfoss began the process of closing its refrigeration thermostat factory near Turin, Italy, and is moving production to its plant in Slovakia.
Danfoss to close Italian thermostat plant
The thermostat production site in Trofarello near Turin employs 81 people who will be made redundant following the move to the Slovakian plant in Zlaté Moravce.

'The decision to move the production line is a consequence of tough
competition as well as a need to improve our profitability to ensure our future global business,' says Mads-Peter Clausen, Vice-President, Danfoss Appliance Controls.

'It is also a step in our strategy to consolidate production facilities to fewer locations to achieve synergies.'

Merging two similar production lines will raise the efficiency of the production and enable an optimized factory setup with higher flexibility.

The relocation and closure of production near Turin is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.
