REPORTS in Japan suggest that air conditioning manufacturer Daikin is to start production of McQuay chillers at its plant in Osaka by the end of this year. £3m pounds is to be invested in the new venture which will cover the installation of production and inspection equipment.
Since buying McQuay's parent company OYL in 2006, Daikin has imported McQuay equipment for its home market from the US company's factory in Virginia. According to reports on the
Nikkei website, fewer than 20 units have been sold in Japan partly because delivery currently takes five to six months.
Daikin aims to boost annual sales of large commercial air conditioning systems by about 70% to £770m by 2015.
