Daikin to bid for US manufacturer
[firstParagraph]
DAIKIN is rumoured to be considering a revised offer for US hvac manufacturer Goodman Global, after having a $3.6bn offer rejected, according to news sources.
Best known for its Amana air conditioning products, Goodman Global claims to be the second only to Carrier in the US for its residential and light commercial hvac products.
The bid, if successful, would see Daikin overtake Carrier as the world's largest air conditioning manufacturer.
Earlier this year, Daikin ceo Noriyuki Inoue predicted that his company was on the verge of overtaking Carrier as the world's largest ac company. Daikin achieved ac sales of £7.1bn in 2009 - only about £135m-£200m behind Carrier, according to Inoue.
