Daikin opens in South Korea

JAPANESE air conditioning manufacturer Daikin has established a wholly-owned subsidiary in South Korea. The market was formerly served through import agents.

The new business, Daikin Airconditioning Korea Co Ltd, will commence operations on August 1, with a working capital of £1.4m.

According to Daikin, the South Korean air-conditioning market is the sixth largest in the world, worth approximately £800m, of which the commercial market accounts for roughly £520m.

Daikin will look to boost sales of commercial multi systems in and around the capital Seoul.
