GERMANY: Werner Rolles, an influential figure in the air conditioning and refrigeration industry in Germany for over 40 years, is to retire from his role as chairman and corporate advisor to Daikin Germany.
Now 70, Werner Rolles began his career at Grasso Refrigeration after studying mechanical engineering. After a spell with Happel, he headed Kuba Refrigeration GmbH before founding the German sales subsidiary of Daikin Europe in 1998. He was md of Daikin Airconditioning Germany GmbH until 2006. During this time Daikin grew steadily and became market leader in Germany in split and VRV technology. In 2006 he became chairman and corporate advisor.
Speaking at a special gala dinner in Werner Rolles' honour, Daikin Europe chairman Frans Hoorelbeke said 'Thanks to his efforts and his marketing talent, thanks to competent employees, loyal trade partners who believed in the Daikin product range, and a strong marketing campaign, Daikin's business in Germany under his strong leadership was a great success.'
