CSR keeps champagne chilled at Ascot

Catering supplier, Sodexo, has recently managed the essential upgrade and refurbishment of various cold rooms at Ascot, including those which hold champagne supplies, with the help of Cold Store Rentals. This is vital to ensure the system runs efficiently for catering at key events throughout the year.

Cold Store Rentals upgraded the main chiller and beer keg cold room with new Colsec panels and also replaced and upgraded existing refrigeration plant equipment during installation, to make all the systems run more efficiently. The installation served as not only a vital upgrade, but also provided more space and capacity for the storage of cold food and beverages.

The project to upgrade the beer and champagne cold rooms was overseen by Sodexo. Cold Store Rentals sister company Ice House Hire, who provide an annual contract for 86 temporary cold rooms at Ascot during the important race weeks in the summer, also provided additional labour during this busy refurbishment period.

Ryan Underhill, general manager at Sodexo, commented: “We were impressed by CSR’s thorough understanding of our needs for the project. The chiller needed to be completed within a certain timeframe before key calendar events, and it had to provide us with the exact temperature specification we needed to make our job as easy as possible when catering to such large numbers of people.”

Simon Clayton, logistics manager at Sodexo added: “We were really pleased with the installation and the extra value and professional service offered by the Cold Store Rentals team. For example, when the chiller unexpected broke down on the Friday before a big event, the team had the issue addressed and fixed by Friday afternoon, and everything went ahead smoothly and as planned.”

The installation is part of ongoing work at Ascot. Cold Store Rentals last year worked on three kitchen extensions, and has already done three again this year.
