COOL-THERM is starting 2009 with £1 million in orders and is upbeat about its prospects for the year.
The air conditioning and refrigeration specialist has landed orders worth more than £1 million, despite the biting effects of the credit crunch on the economy.

The distributor of Turbomiser chillers has secured three major chiller contracts in the last month. Cool-Therm's contracts include:
Two 7000kW Turbomiser chillers for installation at a UK airport;
Four 300kW Turbomiser chillers with remote condensers for a Ministry of Defence site in Wiltshire;
Daikin air-to-air heat pumps for offices in Birmingham.

Ken Strong, managing director, said: 'There is a lot of talk in the trade about the economy being depressed. However, our view is that there is plenty of work out there, if you are prepared to go out and get it'.

Strong added: 'We believe that the dip in construction over the coming year will be more than offset by the need to replace R22-based equipment, and growth in demand for more energy efficient plant. End users cannot postpone replacement indefinitely, and there are signs that enlightened clients are grasping the nettle.'

Cool-Therm has 30 workers based at branches in Caerphilly in South Wales and Aldermaston.
