THE recent Chillventa exhibition was the platform for a raft of new compressors from leading German manufacturer Bitzer.
Amongst these was the GSD8 series hermetic scroll compressors for R410A. Optimised for use in ac chillers and rooftop units, these models are said to offer lower energy consumption with minimal noise emissions. Nominal outputs are 14.8-34.5hp (displacements of 29.9 to 67.6m3/h at 50Hz).

Octagon recips with frequency inverters

Bitzer's Octagon reciprocating compressors are now available with integrated frequency inverters, substantially reducing compressor on/off cycles and increasing system efficiency by up to 20%. Octagon operates with R134a, R404A, R507A, R407C or R22 and is also now available for use with CO2.

For sub-critical CO2 applications, there are now 17 models of the Octagon CO2 series. Their cooling capacity ranges from 4.4 to 80kW in low-temperature operation at 50Hz. The company has also expanded its offering of Octagon CO2 compressors for transcritical applications.

Semi-hermetic screw

Bitzer has also expanded its offering in the low-temperature sector with the new semi-hermetic screw compressor HSN8591.

Specifically designed for low-temperature applications, the HSN8591 offers a displacement of 5.35m3/hr with an operating frequency of 50Hz.

The new compressor offers users all the benefits of the HSN85 series such as a slide control for infinite or stepped performance regulation. With and without the Economiser operation, the compressor is said to achieve a high cooling capacity and performance coefficient. Due to the large temperature differences in the low-temperature sector, the Economiser facilitates a particularly high energy efficiency. It is also fully functionable in partial load operation. It is suited for all conventional refrigerants and for parallel operation in combination with up to six compressors.

Compact screw compressors

Bitzer is also enhancing its CSH series with two new compact screw compressors for air conditioning applications. The new compressors increase the theoretical displacement from 910 to up to 1,120m3/hr at 50Hz.

The new compressors are particularly suited for R134a or R407C.
Energy efficiency can be increased still further with the use of the Economiser. The three-stage oil separator, the double-walled housing and the isolated bearing chambers also offer high operating reliability.

HSK screws

The new HSK screw compressors offer an optimized frequency inverter tailored to the compressor motor. The horizontal oil separator saves space, thus offering improved options of integration. The compressors themselves operate in a wide speed range with a frequency spectrum of between 20 and 90Hz. The cooling capacity can thus be increased by up to 80% over conventional 50Hz operation.
