COLD STORES:An acoustic enclosure to swear by
[firstParagraph]
GORDON Ramsay Holdings’ celebrated Chelsea restaurant Foxtrot Oscar is using sophisticated new sound-cancelling technology to ensure its refrigeration systems comply with noise regulations.
Environ Technologies was called in to provide two sound-cancelling Modula acoustic enclosures for the coldroom refrigeration units at Gordon Ramsay Holdings’ Chelsea restaurant Foxtrot Oscar.
Local authority compliance
The Modula acoustic enclosures are helping many companies to comply with local government legislation, which in the case of Foxtrot Oscar, stipulated that plant-generated noise must be 10dB quieter than the background noise.
“In the past, outdoor units – be they for air conditioning or refrigeration – have been notoriously difficult to treat acoustically,” said Environ Technologies’ Simon Parker.
“Generally, it used to mean over-engineered, unsightly and expensive solutions or, where noise problems were not considered, a barrage of complaints from those affected. With our Modula units, all of these potential pitfalls can be overcome.
“Businesses across the UK are under increasing pressure to meet council regulations relating to new applications for air conditioning and refrigeration – especially in cities where they may be trading close to housing”.
Certified sound reduction
The Modula enclosures offer sound-cancelling and containment with a certified 25dB(A) reduction.
Environ boasts that its units solve noise pollution problems, help firms to gain planning approvals and ensure that the original air conditioning or refrigeration systems run efficiently. They also hide cumbersome machinery and make it more secure.
London and the M25 represent a key market for Environ because of the hotter temperatures and high demand from businesses.
