CIBSE Conference boosts building performance through co-operation

The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) has released the full programme of events for this year’s Building Performance Conference entitled Working Together for Resilient, Efficient and Healthy Buildings.

Taking place on 3 and 4 November at the QEII Centre in Westminster, the conference offers the opportunity for key decision makers from the Building Services and built environment  sectors to meet, learn and debate critical issues facing the industry, from building security issues to maintenance and operational performance. The event has already attracted the highest number of pre-registrations to date.

Following on from CIBSE president Nick Mead’s call for closer working between the many building services disciplines, this year’s conference will be centred on the question of how collaboration can more effectively deliver better building performance.

Leading speakers will tackle these issues in their addresses; including security of buildings and building information, the relationship between lighting and comfort and health in buildings, the use of BIM in promoting building performance and adapting the UK building stock to climate change.

Nick Mead said: “The Conference is a unique opportunity for the best and brightest in every field related to building services engineering to get together and discuss what the future holds for our industry, as well as to involve manufacturers at our exhibition.”

He added: “It is essential for all those who work in the built environment sector to focus on delivering buildings and assets that perform as clients expect them to, enabling building users to be more productive, effective and profitable. We need to work together across the supply chain and throughout the whole life of a building to deliver better value. This year’s Conference will serve as a model for how the industry can come together, share ideas and work towards a unified goal in future.”

Conference sessions include: Security, Using BIM in Building Operations, Lighting, Wellbeing and Comfort in Buildings, Legislation and Building Performance, Reliability Centred Maintenance, Adapting the UK Building Stock to a Changing Climate, Building Performance Evaluation and Innovation and Collaboration in Building Performance. The sessions will take place over the two days of the conference to allow time for networking and refreshments.
