CIBSE Certification scheme recognises IOR members

CIBSE Certification now recognises membership of the Institute of Refrigeration (IOR) as equivalent to CIBSE membership for entry onto its accreditation scheme for air conditioning assessors.
CIBSE Certification offers accreditation to join the Low Carbon energy assessor register of CIBSE accredited air conditioning inspectors which provides inspection reports for both complex and simple systems.

Since January 2009, all air conditioning systems with a cooling capacity of 250 kW or more must have been inspected by a competent and accredited person under the Energy Performance in Buildings Regulations. All systems with more than 12kW output must be inspected by January 2011.

Inspections are intended to give owners and operators information about the performance of their buildings and plant but while the inspection is mandatory, currently noone has to act on the advice given.
