CIBSE Building Performance Awards winners revealed

The winners of this year’s CIBSE Building Performance Awards were announced in a ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London, on 24 February.

More than 750 industry guests attended this year’s event, which was the largest in CIBSE history.

Five new categories were introduced this year: Project of the Year – Commercial/Industrial, Project of the Year – Leisure, Project of the Year – Public, Project of the Year – Residential and Project of the Year – Retail. They were introduced to reflect the level of diversity in the entries the judges have received and to better recognise individual achievement.

Waterman Building Services, the company behind Liverpool’s Everyman Theatre, took the Building Performance Champion Award and the Project of the Year – Leisure category, which recognises high levels of user satisfaction and comfort whilst delivering outstanding measured building performance in a new or refurbished building.

Other high-achievers on the night included Beverley Clifton Morris (BCM), which was once again named best Building Services Consultancy under 100 employees. It is the only company to have won this award three years in a row.

The Building Services Consultancy of the Year (over 100 employees) accolade was won by Hoare Lea. Meanwhile, the Facilities Management Team Award went to the Sirius Building, Canberra, Australia - Mirvac Group.

Energy Saving Product of the Year was won by EndoTherm - Endo Enterprises (UK) and the Building Performance Training Programme Award was given to Building Services Explained for VolkerFitzpatrick Site Teams – VolkerFitzpatrick.

The Collaborative Working Partnership Award was won by John Lewis, York - IES / John Lewis / Lateral Technologies and Solutions / Next Control Systems.

The other winners were:

CIBSE president, Nick Mead, said “The Building Performance Awards are one of the high points of any CIBSE President’s term, and I’m honoured to have been able to witness such a tightly fought contest. This is the largest field we’ve ever had, which I think is testament to the diverse range of building performance solutions our industry has been able to implement.

“For me the most important thing about these awards is that they reward real and measured building performance, not promises and plans, which shows us who is making a real difference in fighting climate change.”
