Carrier profits up 4%

AIR conditioning manufacturer Carrier has reported increased third quarter profits of 4% year-on-year on 6% higher turnover.
Carrier's $61m sale of Scroll Technologies, its joint venture compressor business established with Bristol Compressors, is included in the results.

Residential unit shipments in the US were down approximately 30% in the quarter while refrigerated container shipments also declined by 15%.
Earnings growth for the year is now expected to be about $100m.
